Almost gotten to the end of my long haul through Trek, Doctor Who is hauling its merry way towards yet another stupifyingly insane series finale and I've been loving every minuite of it. This is the reason I was vaguely disappointed in the new Indiana Jones soundtrack. The music in Doctor Who these days is so over the top and WOW, even John Williams can't really compete. This stuff makes Star Wars sound like a quaint string quartet. And this is when it's trying to be low key! But then, there's always the Amok Time fight music. I wish somebody would let me score some science fiction. Then I can die happy. ------------------ WORST. VIDEOGAME. EVER.

So, I've been having a sci-fi tv fest. Almost gotten to the end of my long haul through Trek, Doctor Who is hauling its merry way towards yet another stupifyingly insane series finale and I've been loving every minuite of it.

This is the reason I was vaguely disappointed in the new Indiana Jones soundtrack. The music in Doctor Who these days is so over the top and WOW, even John Williams can't really compete. This stuff makes Star Wars sound like a quaint string quartet. And this is when it's trying to be low key!

But then, there's always the Amok Time fight music.

I wish somebody would let me score some science fiction. Then I can die happy.

Speaking of Top Gear, if there was one show from America that could rival it in terms of interest and production it would be Mythbusters. Anyone outside the States familiar with it? It revolves around a completely different theme, but it has that same feel of factuality, experimentation, camaraderie, and mucking about. I was wondering why that seemed so familiar, but that's right, it's from when Steve Coogan was on Top Gear.

Speaking of Top Gear, if there was one show from America that could rival it in terms of interest and production it would be Mythbusters. Anyone outside the States familiar with it?

It revolves around a completely different theme, but it has that same feel of factuality, experimentation, camaraderie, and mucking about.

This is a pretty great clip, and the rest of the show is also highly recommended.

and they're SO WRONG on a lot of their physics. they generally get the gist of things, but i've watched the show a couple of times and WTF'd at what they were saying.
