| [big][big]Introduction[/big][/big] Welcome to the GOURANGA! Forums. A discussion board for all the games in the GTA series. This topic is a set of rules and useful advice for new and existing members of the forum. If you would like to contribute something to this topic, just post it to the 'Board Etiquette' topic in the Announcements section. [big][big]Information[/big][/big] [big]Rules[/big] The list of rules can be found in the User Agreement. [big]Search[/big] The simplest way to get solutions to problems is to use the Search Facility. Just type in what you're looking for and you'll be shown various topics or posts which match your criteria. Bringing old topics back from the dead is only a good idea if you have useful information that will benefit others. It's better to find an old topic with the information you require, than posting a new one and duplicating information. [big]Forums[/big] There are 10 forums contained within this board:
[big]Private Messages[/big] Private messages are useful when you want to speak to just one person or need to contact an administrator or moderator about an issue. You can see if you've been sent any new private messages by looking at the "PM" part of the user box on the right side of your screen. You'll be informed with a message box when you visit the main page and have unread private messages. If you're having problems from another member, you should send a private message to an administrator or moderator with a complete description so we can take the appropriate actions. If you receive offensive private messages from another member, don't delete them because we will need to view them. Abusing the private message system will lead to you being banned or removal of your PM priviledges. [big]Posting[/big] Here's some advice about posting topics:
Here's some advice about posting messages:
[big]Attaching Files[/big] Make sure that you only post files that are useful and related to your message. Files that are offensive, off-topic or malicious will be deleted. Members can post files up to 750KB which will take a few minutes on a dial-up connection. Small images are automatically shown in messages, all other files can be downloaded. Using an application like WinRAR or WinZip on your files can greatly reduce the size which will mean people can get your files faster and our bandwidth use will be lower. [big]Signatures & Avatars[/big] The guidelines about size of these can be found in the Signature & Avatar Sizes topic. Signatures can contain useful information such as holidays, projects you're working on and important topics you've made. Try to avoid using animated images or large images in your signatures, because they will take a long time for people to download and can be very annoying. Avoid putting loads of text into your signature. It increases download times, means you'll need to scroll more and it can be annoying when you post a 1 line message with a 15 line signature. Keep the information short and to the point. You can have a avatar under your name. This is used mainly as a visual representation of yourself. If you don't want to view signatures and avatars around the board, you can disable them by clicking the "Edit Profile" link and enabling the relevant options. [big]Banned Members[/big] Sometimes members will be banned for causing problems around the forums. Minor offences will result in a temporary ban. If you're banned and feel that it was incorrectly done, send a private message to the person who banned you or an administrator if this is unknown. We log all bans, the start time, type, duration, reason and the admin/mod that banned the member. If you are banned, take a while to think about what you've done wrong and how to improve your conduct around the board. All administrators and moderators have the power to ban members without any reason given. The administrators and moderators put in a lot of time to provide this forum for free to anyone who wishes to use it so we expect you to behave in a manner that's appropriate. [big]Miscellaneous[/big] Here are some useful features that you can find around the board:
There are many other useful features located around the board, but we will let you discover those in your own time. [big][big]Conclusion[/big][/big] Above all, we hope you enjoy participating in discussions here at the GOURANGA! Forums. Following these guidelines and using this advice will increase your enjoyment here and make the forums a better place for everyone. ------------------ ![]() |

| 1 quick question. let's say a user had already posted a reply. Later on s/he wants to attach a image from their own system to the reply, but somehow the attach feature is not avaiable when they edit your reply. Is there a way to attach a image from the system after you edit your reply? BTW: I don't see anything yet that need to be added to the Gouranga Forums bible. |

| Ahh, it's not quite up there with the true bibles Members can't remove/modify attachments once a message has been posted. This is for security, so someone doesn't remove a malicious file when admins/mods are around and then bring it back again when they leave. It makes it easier for us to monitor and check the files that have been uploaded. ------------------ ![]() |

| Bloody hell Icey, it's a bit much don't you think? As long as people don't do anything which is actually illegal or risks the servers crashing, why worry about it? I didn't think you were particularly officious and trying to force so many needless provisions will turn this place into a GTAF-like warzone, with ignorant trolling staff beating hell into innocent members. :n ------------------ (Grand Theft Auto Handling Editor | GTA Tutorials) |

| All the rules are there so we don't get in trouble Cerbera! We would like to keep this place running as smoothly as possible, so we need a few sensible rules, even if they are just common sense. I've removed the rules section and just linked through to the user agreement instead. There's no sense repeating information, the topic is more focused on usefulness and we aren't being so Laisser-Faire It's not like all the administrators and moderators stay within the rules. For example, I just spammed these Board Etiquette topics everywhere so I could get my post count higher than yours! ------------------ ![]() |
